Instead of Absol's normal red eyes, this one has burning fire orange eyes that gradient lighter towards the bottom, and the tips of his 'hair' fur, chest fur, and the fur around his paws are sooty and black- almost like he was caught in a fire. For an Absol he runs on the larger size, but he's lankier and skinnier then they typically run. His claws and horns might also look the tinniest bit sharper...

His disposition is typically standoff-ish, not outright hostile, but its obvious to people good with social cues that he's not interested in idle chitchat.

He's not opposed to physical affection- but he's going to find it strange. It might take a while before he stops giving you funny looks- or if its frequent enough he might directly ask you what the meaning of your actions is. Given time though he'll grow used to casual displays of affection and will simply let it happen. Assuming he trusts you that is.

If its casual flirting meant more as part of a demeanor or to tease- the range will depend. He might either give you a flat look, a sharp comeback, or sarcastic playoff- it depends on his mood and what he thinks of your character!

Any attempts to romance him will be refused outright. He's not interested. Even if he respects you- Its not about being rude or cruel. He's just not going to do it.

He's very ready to throw hands if he feels the situation calls for it. However he doesn't see any point in battles with "weak" people, or in play-fighting/training. The only fights that have value to him are ones that keep him alive, and that involved life and death.

Heck yeah go for it! He has some resistance and insight into dealing with psychic manipulation due to both the nature of his job- One only gets stuck near Seaborn so many times without getting fed up enough to ask for tips and tricks- and also due to the nature of many sarkaz having arts which can deal with mind bending and manipulation. He's not impervious to it- and its not his specialty either- but he's not going to be 100% ignorant either.

Character: Flamebringer

Canon point: Post Operational Intelligence: Destroyer, Enforcer: Departure Plans, and Luo Xiaohei: Sleepwalker Sailing. He has been with Rhodes Island for a fair amount of time, building a relationship of mutual respect with the Doctor.

Canon intensity: The world of Arknights faces constant threat from intense and devastating natural disasters called catastrophes, a kind of disease called oripathy, which currently has no known cure and is terminal, and there is frequent bloodshed, war, insurgence, uprising, and the like. Flamebringer himself is a mercenary who has had to kill others to protect himself, and has faced persecution both for his race, and for his status as an infected, someone afflicted with oripathy. On screen death, genocide, racism, and other dark topics are very common.

World information: Arknights takes place on the world of Terra, which is a world that has tech a bit further in the future than real life, and has a mix of Sci-fi and fantasy elements, with more weight being put on the sci-fi aspect. Still, people have ‘Arts’ which manifest like magical powers (although magic does exist and is a separate power). There are cities built upon moving tread-vehicles so as to avoid the Catastrophes that plague Terra, a flying city/station called Rhodes Island, and many other examples of high-tech that surpasses our own.

Character biofacts: 32 years old, Male, Sarkaz (subspecies unspecified), 6’1”/190cm

About the character: Flamebringer’s origin and past are shrouded in mystery. When he relinquished information to Rhodes Island in order to apply for their contract, he supplied very little information. He was born in Kazdel, the only purely sarkaz nation on the face of Terra, he has 15 years of combat experience, and he provided a name of individuals who had fallen to his blade in battle.

He prefers to keep to himself, he is not interested in idle chit-chat or building relationships or rapport with his fellow operators and co-workers on Rhodes Island. In fact his disposition and history are so off putting that many straight up try to avoid him, seeing him as someone dangerous or scary to be around. He’s given no sign this bothers him in the slightest. He is a self proclaimed wandering swordsman, a lonely and solitary road has been the one he has walked for years, although it has not always been this way.

W, a fellow recruited operator on Rhodes Island, and an individual who has worked with Flamebringer in the past, is one of the few members of Rhodes Island to know anything about the mystery shrouded swordsmaster beyond what credentials and information he’ll willingly put forward. Together they both worked with the Infected terrorist organization, Reunion, For a short period of time, before Flamebringer defected along with some fellow sarkaz mercenaries. Flamebringer found the way Reunion fought to be tasteless, and he had no interest in joining their wanton destruction and bloodshed. W is more entertained by his defection than anything, even though she does try to convince him to stay. In the face of his obstinate answer of ‘no’ however, she simply lets him go.

Before he leaves however, she slyly implies she might know a thing or two about who was responsible for the deaths of his old co-workers, a mercenary team of which Flamebringer has implied himself to have been the captain. Of this old sarkaz mercenary team, Flamebringer is the sole survivor. Whether it be that he seeks revenge, or simply seeks answers, he is intrigued by the things W implies in her roundabout way.

And whatever she did imply, leads him to Rhodes Island’s doorstep. Where he runs into someone he has met before, and even worked under in the distant past, under a different organization with a different name. The Doctor.

The Doctor is one of the only people he actively seeks to talk to, his attitude around them is arrogant, but underneath all his bluster... he seems to be looking for something, or expecting something. Regardless of his intentions, they have a strange, but growing relationship. Some would even say behind close doors that they’ve grown to be friends.

And rather comically, despite his off-putting attitude, the Doctor is not the only friend he has made during his stay on Rhodes Island. And to any outsider, the particular group he ended up becoming friends with only adds to the sense of comedy.

Flamebringer enjoys gardening as a hobby. A fact strange enough that many find it surprising and strange. He exercises this hobby using the greenhouse on Rhodes owned by Lena, operator name Perfumer. The two become unlikely friends through their common interest. Even more unlikely, Flamebringer has bonded with the other frequent visitors to the garden, and the friends that accompany them. He refers to this group in batch as ‘the girls’, as most of them are young, not even being adults. His cold attitude was intimidating at first, but underneath that the girls found someone who was patient, and willing to help them out in their gardening endeavors whenever they needed a second pair of hands or a sounding board, so despite it all they forged a bond. This trickled down to friends of friends, the likes of Popukar as an example, Flamebringer mostly knows because she is friends with Suzuran, rather than because of her also working at the greenhouse.

If you were to ask Flamebringer about his relationship to the girls he would dismiss it as them having common interests, but many operators have noticed a deep and fierce protectiveness whenever they are deployed in pairs or a group on the field. Many have confessed that facing the hoards of their enemies would be less terrifying than facing the enraged Flamebringer when protecting his friends.

Another unusual interaction was his encounter with the young sankta Executor, Ezell, operator name Enforcer. Ezell has a personal mission that requires going to Kazdel to fulfill, and thus, was asking many sarkaz operators what they knew about Kazdel. The sankta and the sarkaz have a bloody history, neither being fond of the other, and many willing to kill the other on sight or slight. Despite all of this, and the warnings of far friendlier sarkaz operators who could tell Ezell’s intentions were pure, Ezell continues to seek out council from sarkaz operators. This brings him to Flamebringer’s metaphorical doorstep. Flamebringer brushes of Ezell’s mission to go to Kazdel as suicide, thinking the young sankta naive and foolhardy to try. He goes as far to cut Ezell with the gardening shears he was using and pin the sankta to the wall, acting every bit the bloodthirsty beast the sankta misconstrue the sarkaz as, all to prove that if Ezell went to Kazdel, he would be dead in a second. He lets Ezell go with this warning, having no personal desire to kill Ezell, only to stop a stupid boy from making a stupid mistake.

Flamebringer has many introspective thoughts about life, the meaning behind it all, and the way it weaves itself between the hearts of men and the leaves of plants. His pursuit of the blade and his pursuit of gardening both wrap into this, and he has been known to use his gardening hobby as a way to express his musings and thoughts on many deeper feelings he has towards life, its fleetingness, and its meaning. During this particularly turbulent time of conflict on the world of Terra, it may be that both these aspects of his life are how he explores the meaning of life itself.

Abilities: He is very physically capable, able to wield a sword that is taller than himself with ease. On top of that he has the ability to summon and manipulate fire. Said fire can manifest as a demonic looking head used more as an intimidation tactic, as it also simply bursts into flame upon contact. He has been noted several times as being an incredibly skilled and deadly combatant with many notable kills to his name.

Noteworthy items: He carries two swords, one which is an averaged sized katana, and the other which is a greatsword that is longer than his own height, he can wield one, or both at a time with ease. Around his neck there is a simple black collar (it looks plastic in material) with blue LED lights. Any person from Terra will recognize it as a suppression collar that helps the infected keep their arts under their control.

ACTIVE TIMES/PACE: Random and Eclectic times of day! I tend to be slow to medium paced. Sometimes you'll get a boomeranging session out of me, but it tends to be rare.

BRACKETS/PROSE: I can do both Prose or Brackets- I have a preference to prose, but I can easily do brackets as well. Typically I match unless said/asked/indicated I can do otherwise.

IN CHARACTER

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Please feel free to attempt it! I would love people to try. As a result of him having oripathy, he avoids physical contact with people who are not fellow infected. In fact he will actively grab/stop people who try to touch him. Not because he hates being touched, but rather because he’s not going to let them get themselves stupidly contaminated out of friendliness. If somebody who didn’t realize what they were doing were to cut themselves on one of the hard, black, rock like formations on his skin… well. He’d hate to have that on his conscious. For fellow infected however, he’s kind of put out by it, but as long as its not annoying or violent he’ll let it slide. However if somebody frequently touches him in a friendly manner, he will confront them and ask them what they’re doing. As a person who’s predominantly been a self sufficient loner, he’s not big on instigating this kind of stuff.

PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Absolutely yes! If you fight him he will fight back. He has no qualms about defending himself, or even hitting back harder if he thinks you’re going to cement yourself as a threat. He’s not keen on causing problems on purpose… most of the time. But he will absolutely defend himself, and if he feels like you’re threatening him, it won’t be his first resort, but it won’t be his last either.

RELATIONSHIPS: Being both a sarkaz, one who left his home country, and an infected, he is an outcast from society. He doesn’t expect to be loved or appreciated, and he is fine with that. Despite this, he has a nature of saying things that have the intent of pushing people away… but his actions say otherwise. It will take a lot of effort to break through his stand-off-ishness to befriend him, but some have managed it. He tends to be soft on kids, and more likely to help out those he perceives as young or naive. He’s led a very lonely, dangerous, and hard life, he could do with some friends :)

PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: If somebody read his mind you would get dry comments and more obvious panicking/awkwardness than he actively shows on the outside. He’s not a man who’s interested in idle chit-chat, so it might be surprising how much he says to himself.

MAGICAL INFORMATION: Flamebringer is capable of summoning fire! Who would have guessed! He can summon small or large amounts of fire, along with a giant demon skull head looking thing that's combat purpose is unknown in canon, so I’m going to just say it can probably run into people, burst into flames, and breathe fire as like, a separate entity. Probably can’t be sustained for super long though. While his arts are an ability he had outside of his oripathy, in a pinch he can use the originium crystals growing in and on his body to enhance his flames. However this would hasten the decay that his oripathy brings.

MEDICAL INFORMATION: [TERMINAL ILLNESS WARNING] Flamebringer has contracted an illness known as Oripathy, native to the world of Terra that he comes from. The disease is debilitating, frequently disabling and injuring the user, known to mess with their minds and their bodies. Flamebringer has a rather far along case, the indicator of this being the fact that he has Originium Crystals growing on his face and near his brain. In Flamebringer’s case there is no indication of physical or psychic disability. However his blood is tainted with oripathy, and he has originium crystals growing from the side of his forehead down his face and neck, and all the way down his left shoulder and arm down to his wrist. Should his blood come in contact with an open injury, or should it be brought into contact with the bloodstream of any other individual, they too would contact oripathy. If someone was to cut themselves on the originium crystals growing on his skin, they would contact oripathy. Should Flamebringer pass away of natural causes or otherwise, the originium crystals inside of his organs will explode, which would expose any individuals nearby to the airborne form of oripathy, therefore infecting them as well.
Horrible terminal disease aside however, he is very physically fit and capable. Albeit somewhat underweight.

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: He is not going to take kindly to being referred to as a demon or a devil, as these are racial slurs against sarkaz. Any sort of snide or derisive comment about his race or status as an infected will win you no points in his book, although he is unlikely to do anything besides snap back at you unless you really start pushing. Any character who is a sankta who he is not personally familiar with (i.e. has not joined Rhodes Island) he will immediately be on edge around. As well if your character resembles an angel in physical appearance, there is a chance he will mistake you for a sankta (depends on the game setting/tone).

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

VISUAL: Flamebringer is 190cm/6’1”, dressed mostly in black, with some orange accents on his crop jacket and his boots. He has a sleeveless robe with a fur trim around his neck, with the words ‘Rhodes Island’ written down the side of it in white. He has short navy blue hair, one tall, jagged, horn on the right side of his face, and two smaller horns on the left, one horn larger than the other. He has orange eyes that almost seem to be the source of his namesake, his pupils bright yellow, like the center point in a fire. He has black, crystal-looking patches growing down from his forehead down his face to his neck, to his shoulder and all the way down his left arm, stopping at his wrist. He has a jagged tail that resembles the long horn on his head, looking more like rock than anything biological, but it moves and acts like you would expect a flesh and blood tail to. He carries a katana sheathed on his left hip, and a large, jagged great-sword attached on his back.

AURAL: He is blunt and to the point. Sometimes to the point as coming off as rude or terse. Sometimes he IS just rude or terse. Remorselessly. He tends to come off disinterested or cold as a result.

OLFACTORY: He smells like fire, or something recently burnt. Normally its pretty understated, you’re not going to smell it unless you get pretty close, like close enough to smell a normal person’s body odor. But if he’s been using his arts its more prominent, and detectable from a few feet away. Individuals with particularly good smell will probably pick up a strange smell, metallic, but also smelling like rot. The smell of oripathy.

DEMEANOR: Antisocial and distant, he tends to keep to himself, and doesn’t smile all that much outside of confrontation. He’s quick to smirk if poking fun, or even in a fight, but outside of that he’s either straight faced or looks annoyed, even if he’s not. He’s not particularly interested in working with others outside of survival or business, so he’s quick to leave social gatherings he doesn’t feel like he needs to participate in.
